Now 79% of the worlds fruit, vegetable and meat produce has been genetically modified or has come from GM crops.
What countries produce the most GM foods?
A 2012 report shows that majority of GMO foods come from North America, with almost 70% of all GM crops grown in the USA. Over 70 million hectares of US soil is being used for GM crops (GMO Compass, 2010). The GM production In the US is so high that over half of just about every fruit, vegetable and meat is grown in the US. The five other major contributors to GMO foods are: Argentina, Canada, Brazil, South Africa and China.
